Below, you'll find all the questions we could think of that we've been asked over the years.
No website can expect to answer everyone's queries, so please remember that we are just a phone call away to talk to you about your specific needs. Remember there is no obligation to come on a DJ Academy course, we're here to help you make the right decisions about being a DJ.
No you don't have to live in the UK however all courses are conducted in the UK so it is essential that you arrange your own transport to and from the UK and also make your own arrangements for any necessary Visas that you might need. The DJ Academy does not run full time academic courses or provide sponsorship so it's not possible to get an educational visa against a DJ Academy course, sorry!
Generally, our 8 week courses are run in small groups of usually around 4 to 6 people. Community workshops are provided for different types of groups so can often cater for many more than the 8 week courses. Mobile DJ, Radio DJ and Music production courses are normally run for 1 individual but if would like to attend with a friend or as a group then we can normally make arrangements to accomodate you, you would need to call us for pricing however. 1-on-1 tuition is quite obviously for one person at a time.
Yes, absolutely! The DJ Academy has been running for many years and our certificates are becoming more and more widely known and respected in the industry. At the end of all courses we provide you with a certificate. Depending on how well you did on the course this could be anything from a certificate of attendance to a certificate of distinction and reference to help you get into the industry sector you're aiming for.
Yes, of course you can. This happens very often in fact. DJ Academy courses make great presents for people who are passionate about DJing and music. Just give us a call and we'll be happy to help you decide what's best.
Strictly speaking, no there is not an age limit, however we do make the recommendation that you are realistic about yourself or the person you are buying a course for. In most cases we would suggest that course attendees need to be at least 15 however there are sometimes exceptions. Equally, it's unlikely that a person of pensionable age is going to be a big hit on the nightclub scene... you get the drift!
Assuming that you have equpment that we can actually teach you on there is no reason why not. This can normally be arranged, but we will need to discuss it with you over the phone. There may be changes in the price depending on which of our tutors you want to teach you and how much travel is involved (it might even be cheaper)!
If you know in advance that you have other commitments then there is a possibility that we might be able to split your course however if you simply dont turn up for a session then we will ask you to pay for it anyway - this is due to the fact that whether you turn up or not, our overhead costs remain the same, if you dont pay then someone has to lose out and we cannot fail to pay the venues or tutors. If you have a genuine reason why you cannot attend then please give us as much notice as you can and we will always do everything we can to be as reasonable and accommodationg as possible.
Absolutely! There is no limit to the amount of expertise required before you start the course. We train each person according to the level they are at, inevitably, some learn quicker and some learn slower - we've been doing this for many years and are quite used to this. You might finid it will help to have a day's 1-on-1 tuition either before or after the course, (or both) to help you prepare for the course and/or consolidate what you have learned.
