8 Week courses:

The Academy specialises in all aspects of DJ ing. It is a hands-on course operated by award winning professional DJ’s with many years of experience  at the highest levels within the industry. With limited places each term, we can ensure that each student receives the maximum attention from our expert tutors.

Extensive course notes will be provided for future reference.

who is the course suitable for?

The course is suitable for complete beginners who may have little or no experience of DJ ing. We also cater for more advanced DJ's , who may already be working and need to improve their techniques. Or DJ's who need to cross over confidently from vinyl to working with CDJ's and computer packages.

what does the course cover?

The sessions have a strong practical element, with plenty of opportunities to practice with CDJ's and turntables, within a small friendly group. Skills taught will include beat mixing, scratching, using acapellas, microphone techniques and all the tricks and effects that can be achieved using CDJ's.

Before the practical session, there will be a short theory based talk covering the following areas;   Self promotion, flyer design, making demo tapes and CD’s, mailing lists, music policies, set programming, tax and accounts, correct use of sound systems and PA’s, dealing with management, marketing and promoting nightclubs, DJ competition preparation,  and how to get out there and earn a living from DJ ing.

Play out live!

After successfully completing the course,  students will be given the chance to put to use all of the skills that the DJ Academy has taught them, and put on their own night. This enables students to see their name on flyers and show off their skills to friends and family!  The student  nights are a popular aspect of the course, and have been  a great sucess.  Students operate the night totally independently, and even have a chance to make money back on the door.  DJ Academy are the ONLY DJ training school in the country that encourages students to move from bedroom DJ ing to playing out live in a club situation.

What equipment do we use?

All students will be taught on the following

Technics turntables; Stanton SMX 501 mixers; Pioneer CDJ 1000 CD turntable; KAM KCDJMP300 with effects; Numark total DJ and IPOD IMIX 100
